Spectrum of heart problems in children
Children with heart problems can present with a large variety of signs and symptoms. Some of the common presentations include: 
  • Heart murmur: Children with acyanotic CHDs are often diagnosed after detection of heart murmur
  • Cyanosis: Children with cyanotic CHDs present with low oxygen saturation levels. 
  • Non-specific signs and symptoms: Neonates and young children with CHDs often present with non-specific symptoms such as feedding difficulties, breathing difficulties, recurrent chest infections, poor weight gain, easily tiredness or breathlessness, and even children with significant CHD may not have any heart murmur.
  • Cardiac arrhythmias or conduction abnormalities
  • Palpitations
  • Chest Pain
  • Myocarditis, infective endocarditis, Kawasaki disease
  • Faltering growth, easily tiredness or breathlessness on exertion
  • Cardiomyopathy
